Deals of the Week

Don’t forget to check out the list of match ups check out our Grocery Store Match ups list.

I get asked a lot how to make coupons work best for you and to get things for such great deals. Since learning how to use coupons I have cut my grocery budget by more than 60%. It’s so much easier than you think! So I’m going to tell you the #1 mistake I see beginning couponers make and how to fix it.

coupon mistake

The number one mistake I see is not using coupons on sale items! This is not going to help bring down your grocery budget overall. When you get a coupon for a product you love it’s really tempting to run to the store and put it to good use. But don’t do it!

Instead, wait to use your coupon until the item goes on sale. This is how you are going to make the most of your money and get the best deals! Let me show you an example.

Let’s say a box of cereal is regularly priced at $3.89. You get a coupon for $1/1. If you run to the store and use your coupon right away you drop the price to $2.89. Not bad, but you can do so much better! If you wait a few weeks, the cereal will likely go on sale. The price often drops to $1.50 or so with a sale. If you use your coupon now you will pay only 50 cents per box. HUGE difference!

Regular price = $3.89
Regular Price with coupon = $2.89
Sale Price = $1.50
Sale Price with coupon = 50 cents
