The End of My Cinch Journey. Or Is it?

When I started my 6 month Cinch journey I didn’t know where I would end up. I know I’m not good at sticking to a plan. But I also knew that I wasn’t happy with my body. I blamed it on having kids, but that was just my excuse. Eating was the real problem. I am an emotional eater. If something great happens I want to celebrate with a treat. If something bad happens I want to eat my sorrows away. It’s not a healthy habit.

So in that fashion I gained weight. And then more weight. And then more. Until finally, Shaklee came along with Cinch. I committed myself to doing it. I said I was going to give it my all. (I mean it’s only a shake or meal bar for two meals a day with a snack bar in between, right?) I signed up for a gym membership and talked my friends into running a 5K with me.  While I wasn’t perfect, I did do well. I started to lose inches and pounds and, more importantly, to feel better about myself.

The last couple of months I have avoided my scale like the plague. I was convinced that I hadn’t lost anything and would only face disappointment once I stepped onto that dreaded square. But during that time I started to dress a bit differently. I was wearing less baggy clothes. And feeling cute in them! I was feeling healthier in general and finding it easier to avoid the sweets when I felt happy or sad. Because I’ve realized that food does not make or break my mood. I have that control.

So, when a few days ago I finally took my after pictures and measurements I was thrilled to see what I had lost! A total of 15 pounds (just 5 pounds short of my goal) and 15.5 inches!! And I can see a huge difference in my pictures!

Cinch: Before and After!

Cinch Before

When I started my Cinch journey I was very unhappy with my body. I felt unhealthy, out of shape, and uncomfortable in my own skin. But with the help of 49 other women as well as family and friends I have transformed my life. I have lost 15.5 inches and 15 pounds in 6 months. (Five of those inches are from my waist!) I have run two 5K races, and have learned how to be healthier and happier.

I am making better eating choices and am striving to work out and tone up. And, as you can see from my pictures, I’m happier with who I am!

I’ll be the first to say that this wasn’t easy. And I didn’t always stick to my Cinch plan. I think in total I probably did 3.5 out of the 6 months. I have a hard time sticking to something and “fell off the wagon” a few times. (Okay, a lot of times.) But I still got back on. I tried again and again and again. I powered through my lazy days. And started incorporating healthier snacks and meals into my regular diet. And I have noticed that not only am I feeling better about how I look, I’m also gaining more energy. And as each day goes by I’m feeling more motivated to get my workout in. And I have more willpower to ignore the sugar snacks and grab the healthy ones instead.

I have always hated exercise. And I mean that in the strongest sense of the word. I loathed it. But after starting Cinch I knew it was something I needed to do. So I tried many different exercises to try to find something I could at least deal with. And in that process I’ve come to realize that I actually enjoy running. I, Jacki Brunson, enjoy running! Who knew? Thanks to Cinch I now do.

If I can accomplish this, so can you! It doesn’t have to be about weight loss. And it doesn’t have to be a big change. Focus on one thing and slowly change that thing in your life. It’s easier then you think!

My goal was to lose 20 pounds by Christmas. I didn’t quite hit that goal, but I’m not far off. And I’m thrilled with the inches I lost. Plus, I’m not stopping here! I plan to lose more weight and get healthier. I’m already planning on running more 5K’s in the new year including the Kiss Me Dirty as well as many more.

Give me a C! Give me an I! Okay, you get the idea. But I want you to finish the cheer in your head with the most enthusiasm you can muster. Done? Well then take a breath and know that you are awesome! So what was the point? To get you excited of course! Because that’s how I feel. I just got back from a workout and I’m feeling energetic and healthy.

Since starting Cinch I have found a love of running. Which isn’t to say I’m good. Or that I can run long distances. But I do love it. And I hope that at some point I will start running long distances. And be trim and healthy. This month I challenge you to change one thing in your life. Stop drinking soda, start going to the gym, eat less sugar, whatever it is, you can do it! Find your motivation and you can accomplish anything.

Month 4 Cinch Update

I’m totally back!!! Yay! And it’s been 4 months since I announced that I was starting a new “diet” and learning healthy ways to lose weight. And I love that there is so much support and motivation. I NEVER would have thought that I would run a 5K. And I’ve done two in just over a month! I know that a big part of my inspiration is Cinch.

As of today (4 months in) I have lost 8.5 inches. Holy crap! That’s a lot when you look at it on the ruler. So many of my fellow Cinch bloggers are talking about continuing with Cinch after our 6 months is over. Because it is just THAT awesome!
