Utah Deal: Half Off Permanent Cosmetics + My Experience!

Posted by on Jul 18, 2017

Ali from Rise & Shine Permanent Cosmetics is offering an amazing deal to Mamas on a Dime readers! Just let Ali know you heard about her from us and you can save half price on all services!

  • Eyeliner (Both Eyes) $300 $150!
  • Eyebrows (Both Brows) $300 $150!
  • Lip Fill $400 $200!
  • Lip Liner $175 $87.50
  • Beauty Mark $45 $22.50

If you have looked into getting permanent makeup before, you know just what an amazing deal this is. And this deal includes one FREE touch up, PLUS $35 touch ups for life!

I had Ali do my eyeliner last week and I couldn’t be more pleased. The whole process takes about two hours. But your eyes have been numbed and you are relaxed the whole time. Ali is great at letting you know what to expect and exactly what she is doing at each step. They took a couple of days to get used to, but now I’m in love. I love how much prettier I feel without every putting on a stitch of makeup! I know you will love yours too!

  • Here is a step by step of the whole process. Ali had me wear my regular eyeliner to my appointment so she could see just how I like it and there was no guesswork. I think cleaned off all my eye makeup, laid down on a comfy table and closed my eyes. Ali then put on some numbing cream and chatted with me while it took effect. There was no awkward waiting. No wondering what was coming next. None of that weirdness. Ali totally made me feel at ease every single step of the way!
  • Then Ali brought out the needle. Needle? Honestly I don’t even know. I never really saw it. But there was no pain. Zero. The numbing cream did its job and since Ali doesn’t use a machine there were no creepy noises to weird me out. Ali did her thing while making sure it never hurt me and in no time it was over. The most uncomfortable thing for me for me was having my eye slightly open part of the time so she could get the ink where it needed to go. I desperately wanted to close my eyes. Ha! But, that’s it! Ali told me how to treat my eyes for the next few days, let me know about follow ups, answered any questions I had, and I was on my way.

Below you can see my before and after pics. They aren’t the greatest pictures ever since I took them myself, but you can get an idea of just how awesome your new makeup can look. Keep in mind, I’m not wearing any makeup at all in either picture. There are also more pictures on the Rise & Shine Facebook page.

Next up? Eyebrows! I will totally be giving you the low down on that one too!

Are Season Passes & Family Memberships Worth It?!

Posted by on Jul 6, 2017

Season passes and family memberships seem to be the norm around here. Everyone seems to have at least one. But are they worth the money? I looked at A LOT of options and prices to answer just that question. My answer? Maybe.

Price matters. No question there. But also location and how often you will use the pass. Most of the passes seem to be about the price of three regular visits. So if you plan on using your pass or membership more than three times in the year you have it, then it’s definitely worth it. Go every weekend and you have more than justified the cost.

Bottom line? Do your research: Make sure the cost is worth the benefits for YOUR family. What works for mine, may not work for yous.

That being said, check out some of my favorites:

  • Cherry Hill: A season pass is priced at $89.95 per person at this waterpark. Prices tend to be lower before the season starts. A single visit starts at $21 for the water park. So you will need to visit more than 4 times to make it worth the price. You can also opt for the King of the Hill season pass for $114.95. This one includes the water park, mini golf, jungle maze, Aeroball, Hamster Haven, BattleStar Blasters, The ROCK and Junior Jungle Boats. This one seems like a way better deal in my opinion.
  • Cowabunga Bay: A season pass is regularly priced at $109.99, but if you wait until the end of the season and buy for next year, you will only pay $64.99! This is a killer deal and you won’t want to wait! Go just 4 times and you have made it worth your while.
  • Discovery Gateway: A family membership (1 adult + 5 guests) is $150. A single visit is $9.50. So a family of 6 would need to go 3 times to be worth it. If your family is smaller, you would need to visit more often to be worth the price.
  • Hogle Zoo: A family membership (2 adults & all dependent children) will set you back $149. So, again, it depends on the size of your family. A family of four would need to go 3 times to make the membership worth it. If your family is bigger it would be worth your while much faster. I prefer to purchase the Zoo Booster membership so I can always get 2 extra people in for free. I’m much more likely to go if I can bring people with me.

aquarium

  • The Living Planet Aquarium: Visit the aquarium just 3 times and you will have justified a family membership (2 adults & 4 children) to the Living Planet Aquarium since it is priced at $189.95.
  • Thanksgiving Point: The price for a family membership here (2 adults & dependent children) is $220. But it includes all four Thanksgiving Point venues. Just visit each venue ONCE with a family of five and you have made that membership worth your while.
  • Red Butte Garden: This place is gorgeous! Plus, you can get a family membership (2 adults & 6 children) for only $75. If you have just a family of four you will make the membership worth the price in just TWO visits!

There are tons of other places to get a membership or season pass. Just make sure to do your research before you buy. What are some of YOUR favorite places to have a membership?

I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled we have been since sending my boys to Little Learners. My oldest son did 3 years of preschool there and also attended Kindergarten. My younger son also went there for two years of with Becky’s cute daughter. And now? My youngest is going there! She went for a few months last year and will be starting again next month. These teachers love our kids and really get to know them. I am beyond impressed. And I know you will be too!

Your child will get the foundation of education that they need. Not only will they learn more than you imagined, they will also learn to love to learn (which is what it’s really all about). My 8 and 10 year olds are both very smart for their age and I know a large part of that is due to Little Learners.

That Paint Thing – So Fun & Totally Worth it!

Posted by on Apr 24, 2017

Have you heard of That Paint Thing? I’m sure you have. Or some version of it. I’ve been wanting to go for forever. But I was a little hesitant since I have ZERO artistic ability. I mean none. I’m pretty good at stick figures, but that’s about the extent of my skills. But I finally decided to bite the bullet and give That Paint Thing a try. Even if I did a horrible job, at least I would have a night out with some of my favorite people, right?

I LOVED it! The instructor is fun, upbeat, very informative, and makes things feel do-able. She takes you through each step of the process, one by one, to create your masterpiece.

That Paint Thing is your LADIES night, DATE night, or FUN night destination. We have teamed up with Leatherby’s Family Creamery, Waffle Love and Brick Oven to offer an atmosphere of creativity and fun. This means we are combining painting, music, and prizes with amazing Leatherby’s Ice Cream, delicious Waffle Love creations or your choice of a tasty menu item at Brick Oven. Menu choice at Leatherby’s or Waffle Love catering included with your reservation.

When you get there, you will check in and find a seat. At your seat it will look something like this:

A blank canvas with the brushes and paints you will need. Depending on your location, a server will come get your food order and you will wait for everyone to show up. Once they do, the fun begins!

You will be guided through the steps to complete your masterpiece. You can see the end result as well as one that the instructor is painting as you are so you can see more clearly what to do. There are short breaks in between some of the steps so you can grab bites of your food or use that time to catch up on your painting (That’s what I used almost all of the breaks for.)

The only thing I would change is getting food. In the future, I would just go to the venues that don’t have food during the event. There just wasn’t enough time to really dig in while painting. So my food was just in my way and my ice cream ended up as a big, sad, puddle.

I love how every painting turns out differently. We all did things that were a little off from the others. Some had birds, some had more flowers, or more red, some had bigger mountains, some a brighter sun. It was great! I will absolutely go again. And every single person that went with me said the same thing. It was absolutely worth the price and time!

Plus, they are offering kids Summer camps right now! So fun!

Cirque de Soleil’s OVO Comes to Utah! Plus, Enter to Win!

Posted by on Feb 22, 2017

GIVEAWAY! Cirque de Soleil’s OVO show is coming to the Maverick Center!! I’ve got four tickets for you to see this amazing performance on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 5:00PM. Head to our Facebook page to enter to win now!

OVO is a headlong rush into a colourful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. The insects’ home is a world of biodiversity and beauty filled with noisy action and moments of quiet emotion.

When a mysterious egg appears in their midst, the insects are awestruck and intensely curious about this iconic object that represents the enigma and cycles of their lives.

It’s love at first sight when a gawky, quirky insect arrives in this bustling community and a fabulous ladybug catches his eye – and the feeling is mutual.

OVO is overflowing with contrasts. The hidden, secret world at our feet is revealed as tender and torrid, noisy and quiet, peaceful and chaotic. And as the sun rises on a bright new day the vibrant cycle of insect life begins anew.

Buy your tickets now! I’m so excited for this show, it’s ridiculous. I’ll have an update for you after my boys and I go tonight.
